Introduction to the Technology Curriculum:
Technology enriches and impacts the lives of people and societies globally (Australian Curriculum, 2022). For Australia to continue to advance in modern times, it is essential that it encourages and supports the development of individuals who have the capacity for action and critical appreciation of how technologies are developed and can contribute to society (Williams & Stables, 2015). The Australian Curriculum design and technology strand was created to encourage students to use design thinking and technology to generate and produce solutions for authentic needs and opportunities. The main aims of the curriculum are to ensure students have the necessary knowledge, skills and understandings to be able be involved in all stages of the design process and make informed and ethical decisions at every step of the way (Australian Curriculum, 2022).
